Architecture,
to me, is both the process and product of
planning, building and constructing form, space that reflects
functional, technical, social, and aesthetic considerations. It requires
the creative manipulation and coordination of material,
technology, light, and shadow. Architecture is not all about drawing; it
is all about building and how people are affected by the designs we design. It
is also the driving force in community development. Communities grow because of
architecture.
Architects
affect the quality of life for the people around them and in their own
community. They are in charge of bringing their community into the future with
the designs they design, buildings they build, and the thoughts they think. The
architect’s role in the community is the driving force in community growth,
community togetherness, and so on. People inhabit their spaces and leave with
some sort of feeling. They design for their community. That is their passion:
to design something that will affect their community in some sort of way with
the designs they design in the now and in the future.
