Laurel Street Firehouse
4th Year LSU Architecture students hosted a public pinup of design proposals for the Laurel Street Fire Museum at the Mid City Merchants' White Light Night on Friday, Nov. 16. The studio has been working with the Mid City Redevelopment Alliance and the Baton Rouge Fire Department to develop proposals for re-purposing the decommissioned firehouse in Mid City into a space for near-century-old fire trucks and equipment, the Firemen's union, and community outreach activities like fire prevention education. The proposals will be on display at the Baton Rouge Fire Department Headquarters this Spring. The Firemen will provide feedback and input on the designs to help develop a final design. We hope to gain support and funding to eventually realize the project. All of the work was designed by the students last semester.
