To me architecture is a social service. It is about
improving the lives of the people around you. Often times it is treated like a
self-focused endeavor concerned with the “creator’s” own views on the way
people should live and interact. Other times Architects are concerned with the
special interests of the people funding a project. Architecture should stay
focused on the people it affects, which is more than a client or a government.
Architecture is a community building exercise. My personal
passion for design comes from the desire to improve the community I live
in. I see myself as a public servant
working in the private sector. What I mean by this is architectural design is
about having a social conscious. It is about raising everyone up to a
higher standard of living.
