What is architecture?

Architecture is how humans respond to their natural environment. Rather than suffer harsh conditions, people construct a layer of protection with varying intentions. While some build to moderate exposure, others strive to move closer to the natural world. Designed space is for specific use, whether it be one individual’s refuge or for a community to gather. There are memories tied in architecture that influence how individuals view an environment and whether they choose to protect that space or desert it.

Architecture is art, science, history, philosophy, psychology, ect and architects are responsible for mitigating the strain that architecture puts on the environment with good design practices. Architects provide a service and we must learn from our community and strive to improve their quality of life while also maintaining our own standard of practice to be good citizens of the world.
