Architecture is identifying and solving problems and
accomplishing it in a way that uses practical information and efficient
maneuvers and methods. Good architecture
should anticipate future needs, hazards, and threats and should respond to them
appropriately in a way that also takes in a thorough understanding of past
precedents. It is the built environment
that takes into consideration site conditions and client needs. It is the clients and public interest that
architecture serves and therefore the community also needs to be educated.
I believe that architects have a role of including the
community’s input by interacting with them continuously throughout the design
and construction phase. Educating the
community of what is currently happening in their neighborhoods is required and
vice versa. In their own communities,
architects are to enhance the lives of their neighbors through strategic
planning and by teaching the general public of current urban developments. They need to be advocate smart planning and public
discourse about the immediate built environment. They are the guiders to their neighbors to
help them learn them about sustainability, efficiency, and improving public design,
altogether.
