Architecture is a way to make a mark on the world. To make a difference in the world and to be
an inspiration to someone somewhere down the line is what I want to accomplish
through architecture. In particular, I
would like to make that difference by preserving the history of a community and
embracing it by merging the new and the old cultures of the area. Architecture in this way remains as functional
space while it tells the story of the community.
Be it a huge skyscraper, a rest area, an elementary school,
or a homeless shelter, all of these affect a community and the way the people
and the area as a whole are treated. All
architecture helps someone, but it is impossible for it to help everyone. The main loyalty of architecture should be to
the community. While it might not
support the microcosm of a certain group of people, a project should strive to
make the community a better place by helping as many people as possible and
serving them in a sustainable way.
